Bare Hands.

An initiative by Project Handkerchief, a fictional organisation created as a design solution to a chosen social issue for Design Futures subject. The issue chosen for the project was: showing light on the inhuman working conditions of Mount Ijen sulfur miners. The name ‘Bare Hands’ is used as a way to portray how the sulfur miners tend to use only their bare hands to mine the blocks of sulphurs, even though it can cause blisters and rashes. Bare Hands is a week of paid immersive multi-sensory exhibition (sight, scent, touch) using art installations that will mimic the conditions of Mount Ijen that the miners experience, with a special play following on the last two days of the exhibition.
